Faculty development program (FDP)

SCPT faculty had an insightful Faculty Development Program on Research Metrics at Saveetha College of Physiotherapy! Prof. Dr. Jagatheesan Alagesan, Principal of SCPT, led the session on 18/01/2024 at 02:00 PM in the Council Hall.

Assistant Professor Dr. Ramana K conducted an informative Faculty Development Program on Dry Needling concepts and practice at the Council Hall on 19/01/24. Kudos to those who participated and delved into the intricacies of this valuable practice!

On 19/01/2024 at 11 AM, Dr. Surya Vishnuram conducted an insightful Faculty Development Program on SciVal, a research performance analysis tool With 10 enthusiastic participants, the session delved into valuable insights on research metrics and analysis.

On 19/01/2024 at 11 AM, Dr. Keerthana A K led a captivating Faculty Development Program on Heutagogy principles at the SCPT Council Hall. With an engaging discussion and 10 active participants, the session explored innovative approaches to self-directed learning.

CONFERENCE

Saveetha College of Physiotherapy hosted World PT Day 2024 on 9th September 2024, with the theme "Low Back Pain," welcoming 225 participants, including 24 external candidates. The event began with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Prathap S, Principal of Saveetha College of Physiotherapy. Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Pro VC (Global Collaborations), SIMATS, was the esteemed invitee, emphasizing the significance of physiotherapy. Dr. S. Daniel Amalan, Chief Physiotherapist at SPARRC and Principal of the Indian Institute of Sports Medicine, led the session on "Holistic Approaches to Low Back Pain," followed by Dr. Soundarya M, who discussed "Back Pain during Pregnancy and Holistic Measures." Prof. Dr. Vinodhkumar Ramalingam presented the event report, while Prof. Dr. Subramanian S delivered the vote of thanks. The event was held at Solai Hall, SMCH.


Workshop

On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day, the Department of Community, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care Physiotherapy at Saveetha College of Physiotherapy (SCPT) organized a Workshop on "Core Stability Training" on 9th September 2024. Led by Dr. S. Daniel Amalan, Chief Physiotherapist at SPARRC and Principal of the Indian Institute of Sports Medicine, the workshop provided valuable insights into core stability techniques. The event, held at the Electro Therapy Lab, 4th Floor, SCPT, saw the participation of 33 attendees, including 24 external candidates. This engaging session highlighted the importance of core stability in rehabilitation and physiotherapy.


In celebration of National Sports Day on August 29th, Dept of Sports and Manualtherapy Conducted a workshop on "Integrating Sports Science in Rehabilitation and Injury Risk Reduction". Held on 29th & 30th August 2024 from 8:30 AM onwards at the Saveetha Physiotherapy college and Saveetha Sports Complex, Thandalam. 21 students participated .


CME session on the 'Importance of Exercise and Yoga during Cancer Treatment.Held on (05/06/2024) Organized by the Department of Community, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care, SCPT, the session had 57 participants including PG and UG students.


CME session on the 'Role of Physiotherapy in Oncology.' Held on (05/06/2024) organized by the Department of Community, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care, SCPT. With 57 participants from SCPT, including PG and UG students, the session provided valuable insights into how physiotherapy can significantly aid in cancer care and recovery.


Workshop on "Insights in Imaging for Physiotherapists," Held on (30/05/2024) organised by the Department of Community, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care Physiotherapy at Saveetha College of Physiotherapy. The event was held with 33 participants, including 11 external and 22 internal attendees, comprising postgraduate and undergraduate students, academicians, and clinicians. Our esteemed resource person, Prof. Dr. Muthaih, delivered an enlightening session, providing in-depth knowledge and practical insights into imaging techniques crucial for physiotherapy.


The Department of Neurological Physiotherapy, organized two days hands-on workshop on “OSTEOPATHY MANUAL THERAPY, Resource person: Dr.Shailendra kumar Metha PT.,PhD Director-Sparsh physical & onco rehabilitation centre, Udaipur, Rajasthan. The Workshop was held on 6th & 7th, 2024 at Exercise therapy lab, 4th floor, SCPT. 49 participants were registered and attended the workshop and gained practical expertise with the hands on skills.


The Department of Sports and Manual Therapy recently hosted a hands-on Pilates workshop on 8th & 9th March 2024. The workshop provided a platform for physiotherapists in Chennai to connect, share experiences, and foster new professional relationships with Pilates educator Dr. Omair Khan. Throughout the workshop, attendees had the opportunity to actively participate in hands-on exercises, gaining practical insights and honing their skills under Dr. Omair's guidance. From fundamental movements to advanced sequences, each session was tailored to accommodate participants of all levels, ensuring a rewarding experience for everyone involved. In this workshop 20 participants attended and gained knowledge about Mat Pilates.


Guest lecture

Dr. Andrew Anbarason J.P, Tutor, Saveetha College of Physiotherapy delivered a Guest Lecture on Negligence in Physical Activity at the Saveetha College of Pharmacy, on 24th Jan 2024 with 40 Students of B.Pharm and they acquired knowledge about the awareness of Physical Activity importance.


Community Camp

Saveetha college of physiotherapy conducted a camp in Ulundhai on 1/2/2024 and laid DRIP IRRIGATION PIPE to irrigate 20 tree saplings in Ulundhai panchayat office under the banner of UBA. Third semester Y batch students contributed and laid the pipes. Camp was co- ordinated by Dr S. Senthilkumar.


Yoga day celebration - workshop

Saveetha College of Yoga Club and Obstetrics and Urological Physiotherapy Department organised a yoga workshop on menstrual issues and pregnancy, inauguration is started by lighting of lamp, welcome speech given by Principal Dr. Jagatheesan Alagesan, Resource Person Dr.Tamilselvi B.N.Y.S.,M.D(Y&N) and Nisanthi.S (YOGA THERAPIST).

Saveetha college of physiotherapy has participated in SRM 4th National Inter physiotherapy collegiate and cultural fest 2023 . we are glad to share that we won in 24 Events and OVERALL cultural championship


Conference Participation

Saveetha College of Physiotherapy participated in the National Level Intercollegiate Physiotherapy Meet, KG NEXUS – 2022 organized by KG College of Physiotherapy, Coimbatore from 22nd – 24th April 2022. Our students participated in the scientific presentation, sports and cultural competition. Dr. Muthukumaran J, Professor, was awarded with the significant contribution award and Dr. N Senthil Kumar was awarded with the Best Academician award at the KG NEXUS – 2022 conference.
